November 2024
This fall has been full of beautiful moments and improvements to our spaces.
- We have a new trail map! The artist behind our new trail map is Cristian Pacheco, a Mexican-American designer who was born and raised in Rockford, IL. He currently lives in Chicago and works as Senior Designer for the U.S. Soccer Federation. Cristian says “Working on the trail map for The Confluence has been memorable for me as it is the first map I’ve designed. Our goal was to create a map that is visually clean and easy to navigate. I’m excited to take my family and friends to experience the trails and go fishing on Turtle Creek!” Cristian created both English and Spanish versions which will soon be available on our website and in print. Funding for this project was supported by the Visit Beloit Foundation.
- Another big joy this season was the PBS documentary. Our Executive Director had the honor to represent Nature At The Confluence in the recently published documentary “PBS Wisconsin Hometown Stories: Beloit.” Julie says, “Participating in the filming process deepened my understanding of how our work at The Confluence fits into the historical and present day context of Beloit.” You can view the film here.
- For the first time in our seven years as an organization, we placed a bulk t-shirt order! Rockford Art Deli created a custom artwork that highlights our natural features- the confluence, bald eagles, and monarchs- so you can now sport your support for Nature At The Confluence. These cozy turquoise shirts are 100% cotton, available in adult sizes XS-XXXL, and are available for purchase on our website.
