Every Last Drop, Clean Water for All: Youth Stream Team Program @ Nature At The Confluence
Aug 27 @ 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Let’s Get Wet and Discover More About Our Watershed!

We all depend on clean water, but how do we make sure this precious resource is safe? We will spend some time exploring the Confluence streams to study surface water in action. Then, we will construct mini wetlands to learn more about the water cycle and how our actions on land affect the quality of our water supply. What can we do to protect and restore our region’s waterways?

  • Free Program for Youth Ages 5-13
  • Bring waders or boots if you have them, waders will also be provided for use.
  • Pre-registration required

CANCELLED! Family Fun Freshwater Biology at Nature At the Confluence @ Nature At The Confluence
Sep 23 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Sorry, we had to cancel this program due to low registration.

Free Program: Family Fun Freshwater Biology

Nature At The Confluence Stream Team programs empower citizens to be part of restoring and protecting our local waters and regional watershed. NATC Stream Teams will be collecting baseline data multiple times over the summer at Turtle and Kelley Creeks.  You can come once or several times to discover what the data will tell us about health of these waterways.

Spend time together in the creek collecting organisms and identifying critters found under rocks and in leaf packs. See what organisms we can collect with our nets, and use a magnifying glass to inspect them up close. Draw your favorite water bug. What do our observations tell us about the health of the waterways that all come together at the Confluence? What can we do to make these streams an even better place for plants and animals to thrive?

  • Bring waders or boots if you have them, waders will also be provided for use.
  • Stream Study, Macroinvertebrate collection and ID
  • Free program for all ages

Preregistration is required. Please call Welty Environmental Center to register: 608-361-1377, or email [email protected]

Fireflies: Nature At The Confluence Kids @ Nature At The Confluence Campus
Jul 14 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Come out for some nighttime fun on our trails!

Fireflies are fun for the entire family! These luminescent beetles are members of the family Lampyridae. They are reported to be most active in our area between July and October, so we are sure to see a few.

Come out to the Nature at the Confluence to learn more about these amazing insects. We will read a story, learn about behavior, life cycle, and why they glow. Then we will try to catch and observe a few on a nature hike. There will also be a fire and S’mores. Yum!

Registration: This program is held in partnership with Welty Environmental Center. Please register at this link to let them know you’re coming! https://weltycenter.org/event/natc-kids-fireflies/
