Patrick Rochester (he/him) expects to receive his Eagle Scout award this month (November 2023) after leading an expansion of the Eagle Nest Play Area. The approximately 30-by-17 foot area has additional mulch, new signs, and a tic-tac-toe board. Patrick and his team spruced up our Eagle Nest Play area, which was first created as the Eagle project of Evan Warren from Rockford Troop 619 in 2019.

A member of Boy Scout Troop 615 in Beloit, Patrick is a senior at Beloit Memorial High School. He estimates his Eagle Scout project took more than 47 hours and required a binder more than an inch thick. Donors and partners include the City of South Beloit, Busy Beaver Tree Care, Olson Signs, Ace Hardware, the Beloit Memorial carpentry department and fellow Scouts. His grandparents donated money to help pay for the new signs. He hopes when the weather warms up, children will find the play area “a place to unwind and have a bit of fun.”

Patrick plays trumpet in the Beloit Memorial band and jazz band; he has also used his distinctive voice and precise articulation to narrate the band’s Halloween concert. After graduation, Patrick plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison or UW-Whitewater, studying biology or anatomy toward his eventual goal of being a chiropractor. We are grateful Patrick chose Nature At The Confluence for his Eagle Project!
