The street Nature At The Confluence is located on, Dickop Street, is named for Lieutenant Ray C. Dickop; whom General Pershing named as one of the 15 greatest heroes of World War I. He was killed in action at Fismes, France on August 4, 1918 along with other men from Beloit. He lived in a small home overlooking Turtle Creek and this beautiful spot is where you’ll find a temporary memorial display created for Beloit Heritage Days 2023 “Saluting Our Patriotic Past”. The Lt. Ray Dickop WWI Hero Memorial Display will be available for viewing Sept 8-10 outdoors overlooking Turtle Creek.
